Heart of Scotstoun Community Centre are currently undertaking a survey to find out what people think about the new community centre and the services it offers.
As a membership co-operative and community-owned centre your views are very important to Heart of Scotstoun. It would be great if you could take a few minutes to complete this survey, answering as many questions as you can.
You can complete the survey online at HoS_CommunitySurvey_2012. Alternatively please pop into the community centre and pick up a survey at reception. There is a separate survey for those aged under 16 which can be completed online at HoS YouthSurvey 2012
Prize Draw
The deadline for returning the survey is Monday 30 April 2012. All surveys returned by this date will be entered into a Prize Draw to win one of five £10 meal vouchers for the new Café Momentum.
Free Drink from Café Momentum
They are also offering free tea, coffee and soft drinks from Café Momentum to the first 150 people returning the survey so don’t delay if you would like to claim one of these!
For surveys completed online you can claim your free voucher please by calling at Reception from 2pm onwards Mondays to Fridays.
NB The Centre and Café Momentum will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Local people are invited to get together to sow and grow together at our Big Green Sunday event on Sunday 4 March. Big Green Sundays are aimed at getting people more active and connected in order to make a real difference in their community.
Big Green Sunday will provide a range of interactive, educational, planet-friendly and family-friendly activities. The theme for this month’s Big Green Sunday is ‘sowing and growing’ and participants will be able to take part in the following:
- A craft Stitch Up session including knitting and bunting making for the community garden
- A healthy eating workshop
- A gardening and planting session in the Heart of Scotstoun Community Garden
- A sowing and growing themed poster writing workshop
- A healthy walk
- And a sowing and growing songwriting session (and performance!)
Big Green Sunday, which is free for all to attend with free refreshments provided as well, will take place from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday 4 March 2012 at the Heart of Scotstoun Community Centre, 64 Balmoral Street, Glasgow G14 0BL
Big Green Sundays are great. This is our third event and the first two have been really successful. We want to encourage people to do things together – learn, make, share and do. We are looking forward to another great day so please do come along, get involved and have a great Big Green Sunday!

Big Green Sundays is a partnership production between Dumbarton Road Corridor Environment Trust, Heart of Scotstoun Community Centre and Glasgow Life and the partners acknowledge the support of the Glasgow Community Planning Partnership, The Tudor Trust and Glasgow Life.
Just wanted to share with you some exciting news about a series of events that we have got coming up over the next few months.
They are called Big Green Sundays and the first one will take place on Sunday 6 November from 1-4pm at the Heart of Scotstoun Community Centre.
The first Big Green Sunday is about getting active and getting connected – come along and join in and make your community an even better place to live!
There will be a wide range of family-friendly, planet-friendly activity sessions on offer for all age groups including healthy walks, a community clean up, a knitting circle and an arts and crafts workshop. There will also be refreshments provided on the day. All events are free so why not pop and meet new people, learn new skills and have a great day out!
This event is the the first of four Big Green Sundays which will run between now and the end of March – 6 November and Sunday 4 December this year and on Sunday 5 February and Sunday 4 March next year.
We are running the events in partnership with Heart of Scotstoun and Glasgow Life we greatly appreciate the support of the Tudor Trust and Glasgow Life in making these events possible.

We just had to tell you about two fantastic events that are coming up next week.
Firstly the good people at Yoker Resource Centre are hosting a ‘Pipes of Peace’ event from 1.30pm until 4pm on Thursday 11th August. This event is in the run up to the World Pipe Band Championships and Piping Live! This is sure to be a fantastic occasion bringing world class piping to your doorstep so make sure you get along and join in the fun!
Secondly the Carnival is coming to Scotstoun! From 2-4pm on Sunday 14 August the Scotstoun Community Carnival will take place. The Carnival will be leaving from the Heart of Scotstoun Community Centre and there will be lots to see and do on the day. You can also get involved and make your own costume at one of the workshops that are being run throughout the week. Check the flyer for details.
After 15 years of campaigning, planning, fund raising and building the Scotstoun community is ready to welcome it’s newest addition – the Heart of Scotstoun Community Centre!
An Open Day will be held from 1pm until 4pm on Saturday 18 June with the official opening at 2pm! There will be lots of fun and activities on offer so come along and get involved with your community centre!
The Trust have been heavily involved in the project and have managed the construction phase and are absolutely delighted to see the centre officially open. The Trust has recently moved into the centre and it will be a fantastic place to be based from to be able to deliver a great range of projects in the local area.
So pop along to the opening and say hello! We’ll be there with the De’ils On Wheels project offering cycling skills and Dr Bike sessions so don’t forget your bike!
