Last week we held our Annual General Meeting. This was our first AGM to be held in the newly built Heart of Scotstoun Community Centre. The Trust has been in involved in the HoS project for over 6 years and so the AGM was in many ways a landmark. It was an opportunity to celebrate the completion of the Centre and also to start to look forward to a new chapter in the Trust’s journey to deliver community led sustainable regeneration in the West of Glasgow.

The last year was another very successful one for the Trust with several successful projects delivered. Our achievements are outlined in our latest Annual Report.

However with the successful completion of two Climate Challenge Fund projects at the end of March and the completion of the HoS Community Centre we are now looking forward to the future and what we can do to deliver our aims and aspirations for the area. And there were no end of ideas from the people at the AGM including:

  • organising regular clean ups and litter picks in partnerhsip with other organisations such as community councils etc.
  • running course on home composting and energy efficiency
  • offering energy audits for other voluntary organisations
  • helping local people access fresh fruit and vegetables and also to grow their own food

One area we are keen to explore further is developing partnerships with organisations based in the West of Glasgow to help them deliver and achieve their environmental aims and aspirations. If you are interested in this then please get in touch.

Many thanks to everyone that attended the event and for all your input to the discussions and your feedback. Some of the comments included:

“I learned about things happening in the area and the synopsis of all the great projects.”

“Good friendly atmosphere and it covered all aspects of DRCET.”

“Better promotion of the event to get more people along and involved.”
