Northinch Street in Whiteinch is to get a summer makeover to help brighten up a stalled development. And everyone is more than welcome to come along and lend a hand!

The site (shown below), which is due to be developed into flats, has become a bit of an eye sore and so local group Hold Your Breath secured funding from the Council’s stalled spaces programme to install planters and plant them up with sunflowers and other lovely flowers.

The planters, which have been supplied by Glasgow Wood Recycling, are being filled with compost and have been ‘adopted’ by a range of local organisations including St Pauls Primary School, Whiteinch Primary School, the Whiteinch Centre, Whiteinch Community Council and others.

Over the past few weeks we have been working with Hold Your Breath helping the different groups to plant up the seeds which will then be transferred to the planters in Northinch Street.

This Friday (22 June) the planters will be installed on site, painted and filled with compost and then next week (Mon 25 and Tue 26 June) the seedlings will be planted in the planters.

Interested? Then please come along and lend a hand!

  • Friday 22 June, from 10am
