This week Glasgow Housing Association and their architects held a pre-planning consultation exhibition of the proposed new build properties at the Kingsway Court estate.

There are currently six high rise blocks at Kingsway Court and four of them have undergone major refurbishment over the past two years. The remaining two blocks (10 and 20), which are located closest to Dumbarton Road, are scheduled for demolition, planned for the Spring of 2013.

The new development which is proposed for the site looks very interesting with 120 new properties being created ranging from 1 bed cottage flats to 3 bedroom houses.

We went along to the exhibition and had a good look at the designs and also had lots of questions including about energy efficiency, the installation of solar photo-voltaic cells, the provision of facilites to make it easiy to recycle including food waste  and the landscapng of the site and the ability to create productive landscapes using fruit trees and bushes and herbs. The feedback was very encouraging.

They anticipate submitting a planning application in late October/ early November.

Are you a resident in Kingsway Court? What do you think?
