Last Saturday was the 125th anniversary celebrations of Victoria Park. It was an absolutely fantastic day and the weather was great too!

The event was organised by Whiteinch Community Council, along with various other local partners and sponsors, and what a fantastic job they did.

The park was looking in fantastic condition and the pond had been cleaned up and the toilets had been given a lick of paint.

There was lots of stuff to do including getting dressed up in Victorian costumes, entertainment from local school children, a photo display of old and new photos, a Victorian tea room, tours of the park, horse and carriage rides, a Victorian photo-shoot, a penny farthing and children’s races.

It was a great day for all the family and over 3000 people turned up and helped celebrate!

The future of the park

Glasgow City Council have recently published a draft management plan for the park, which they are currently consulting on. Please take the time to respond to the consultation and help preserve and improve this fantastic green space for another 125 years. The deadline for submitting responses is Tuesday 16 October. You can read about the history of the park here.
