We have very exciting news – De’ils On Wheels has been nominated and short-listed for one of the Finding Scotland’s Real Heroes awards. There are 30 finalists from across Scotland in the running to win one of ten award categories.FindingScotlandsReal Heroes

We have been shortlisted, along with two other finalists, in the Environmental Project of the Year category.

The shortlist of community heroes will feature in RBS – Finding Scotland’s Real Heroes, a brand new STV series which will air this autumn. The new five part STV series, presented by Carol Smillie, will pay tribute to DoWlogo_white_stackedpeople whose hard work, ingenuity, ambition and generosity has improved local communities across Scotland.

All the finalists have been nominated by members of the community who think they deserve recognition and will now appear in an STV programme and be visited by star reporters who want to find out more about their stories. We recently spent the day with the STV film crew and our star reporter, top comediaDoW_RealHeroes_Filming.jpgn Des Clarke.

At the end of each TV programme, viewers are invited to vote for the two nominees they believe most deserve to win a Scotland’s Real Heroes Award, with the overall winners being recognised at a celebrity-packed, televised awards ceremony later this year.

We are up against two other great projects: fellow Glasgow -based Shettleston Community Growers who we met at the Evening Times Streets Ahead 2013 Awards where they won the Best Community Initiative award and the overall Streets Ahead 2013 Award! And we are also up against Crossgates Green Fingers Group based over in Fife.

You can find out more about the Awards on the RBS website and the STV website and you can follow the show on Twitter at #scotlandsrealheroes. The schedule for the TV shows will appear on the STV Real Heroes website.
