Our latest Friend Focus features several organisations that we work in partnership with to distribute the Transition Free Press.

DRCET is one of more than 50 initiatives around Britain which distributes the Transition Free Press. The 24-page quarterly newspaper will contain a mix of news, reviews, features and cartoons, and will have pages dedicated to energy, land, people, economy, food, well-being, arts and education.

Transition Free Press is a new national tabloid newspaper. It is run as a a pilot for four issues during 2013. The 24-page editions will follow the blueprint of the preview issue and contain a mix of news, reviews and features, dedicated pages to energy, the land, people, economy, food, well-being,  the arts, cartoons, sport and a unique Transition agony column.

UrbanRoots_LogoUrban Roots is a community led organisation working across the Southside of Glasgow.  We are committed to working with local people on projects that improve the environment and health of the area through a range of activities including community gardening,  conservation and biodiversity,  and planet friendly living. Our work aims to inspire people and communities to connect with nature,  and take practical action that tackles the root causes of climate change.

Locavore is a Community Interest Company based in the south side of Glasgow which existsLocavore_Logo to take forward projects and initiatives which contribute to the creation of sustainable local food economies. Our current activities include creating an exemplar aquaponics system within the St Enoch Shopping Centre, running a not-for-profit local food shop/hub and providing local, organic veg bags to over 100 households per week by subscription. We also host community garden sessions, deliver cookery workshops and are working to develop a 2.5 acre market garden within the urban fringes of Glasgow.

Transition Linlithgow is a community run charity which is facilitating the transition to local sustainability. Their aims are to:TransitionLinlithgow_Logo

  • Reduce our dependence on fossil fuels
  • Lower our greenhouse gas emissions
  • Strengthen community resilience

and to do so in ways which are:

  • sustainable for current and future generations
  • protective of the local natural environment

GovanhillBaths_LogoGovanhill Baths Community Trust‘s goal is to re-open the baths as a Wellbeing Centre and at the same time contribute to the wider social, cultural and built regeneration of Govanhill as a community through a range of activities. The Centre will be run by the community for the community in association with a local voluntary and statutory partners.
