As part of our monthly newsletter (you can subscribe here) we have a section called Friend Focus where we highlight the great work that is being undertaken by one (or more) of the many organisations that we work with.

Our latest Friend Focus features all our friends of 2013!

We started the year focusing on The Whiteinch Centre which opened it’s doors in 2006 and Whteinch Centre new logohas become a thriving and vibrant community hub.

LINKES SmallIn February it was the turn of LINKES a community project and a registered Scottish charity, operating in Knightswood. They get their name from ‘Lincoln Avenue’ and ‘Kestrel Road’ where they are based.

FOVP_LogoIn March we said hello to Friends of Victoria Park which was set up in 2009 to protect and develop this valuable and popular community asset here in the West of Glasgow.

DRC_Youth_Logo.jpgIn April we featured the DRC Youth Project who work with young people age 8 – 24 in the communities of Yoker, Scotstoun and Whiteinch. The project uses a community development holistic approach that is person centred and responsive to the needs of young people

In June Glasgow Local Food Network took it’s seat at the table. The Network aims to support and promote the growth of a fair, sustainable and resilient regional food system linking production, distribution and consumption to benefit our communities and economy.

GSEN_LogoIn July we featured the Glasgow Social Enterprise Network which is a membership network of social enterprise leaders who believe that social enterprise can transform the economic, environmental, social and cultural life of Glasgow.

In August it was our bike collection partners who jumped into the saddle to highlight the great work that they are all doing across the city.

cropped-tfp_header1The organisations involved in helping us to distribute the Transition Free Press in Glasgow and the West were featured in the September issue.

And we ended the  year in November when we featured Peterson Park Hall who offer a wide range of activities provided via the Centre including exercise classes, dance classes, seniors club activities and a parent and toddler group and they are also  home to Glasgow Mid-Argyll Shinty Club
