Partick Housing Association currently have an opportunity for a part time PartickHA_LogoHorticultural Support Officer. The post is for 21 hours per week and is funded by the Big Lottery Fund until October 2014. The Partick Community Growing Project is an exceptional community food growing space in the centre of an urban community. Partick Housing Association are working with local residents and a wide range of partner organisations to engage the community of Partick in a practical and sustainable way. The project aims to increase health and well-being and significantly improve the local environment.

This role will co-ordinate and manage horticultural aspects of the growing space and work closely with the Community Development Officer to design and deliver community gardening projects.

The ideal candidate will be a creative and experienced instructor able to share their enthusiasm about local food growing. A practical knowledge of gardening with special reference to organic principles and food growing is required. An understanding of how community-based organisations work and previous experience of working for, or participating in a community-based organization is desirable. We are looking for someone who is able to co-ordinate, supervise and encourage a wide range of people of all backgrounds, including disadvantaged groups/ individuals and/or children.
