The West Glasgow Green Gym will be in Yoker from 11am to 2pm on Wednesday 15 January to do a litter pick and cut back some of the vegetation on the cycle path.GreenGymLogo

We will be along to lend a helping hand and to get the New Year off to a green and clean start. If you are interested in joining in then the meeting point is the Lidl car park in Mellerstain Drive, G14 0LG. Please make sure you are dressed for the weather.

The Green Gym, which is run by Drumchapel LIFE, regularly work in partnership with Sustrans in Scotland to ensure the cycle network is maintained on a regular basis. Sustrans work to enable people in Scotland to travel by foot, bike or public transport for more of their everyday journeys.

DrumchapelLIFE_logoThe Green Gym is about healthy people and healthy places where volunteers meet up once a week – on Wednesday’s between 11am-2pm – for FREE to work together on improving local green spaces around West Glasgow. Physical activities such as tree planting and woodland management will help improve your fitness, as well as providing the opportunity for you to learn new skills and meet new people in a friendly outdoor setting. No previous experience is necessary and you work at a pace you are comfortable with. Just remember your sensible shoes, waterproofs and a snack for the tea break!

The Green Gym is based in Drumchapel but will also be working in nearby neighbourhoods including Yoker, Knightswood and Scotstoun. Just make sure you dress for the wonderful Glasgow weather!

GP’s and support workers can also refer clients to the Green Gym to provide them with the appropriate support. This includes the possibility of accompanying them to their first session and in turn keeping up to date with the progress they make.

If you are interested in taking part in the Green Gym on a regular basis and would like a registration pack, or just want find out out more, please contact Graeme on 0141 944 6004 or email them here.
