FOVP_LogoFriends of Victoria Park are holding an Extraordinary General Meeting of the group which will be held at 7.00 pm on Wednesday 30 April in St Thomas Aquinas School.

The main purpose of the meeting will be to approve a revised constitution for the group in order to correct a number of matters which are inadequately covered in the current document. These include removing irrelevant clauses dealing with pensions for employees; expanding and clarifying our aims and objects; revising the number of members required for a quorum at General Meeting to better reflect the growth in numbers; and to review and simplify membership categories. They also propose to change the date of the Annual General Meeting from October to the spring.

FOVP_cleanupIn order to continue organising community activities in the park including litter picking, planting and erection of bird boxes we need to have appropriate insurance cover and to pay for this and other necessary running costs they need to raise funds. To this end they will have to charge membership fees which will be discussed at the meeting.

They have arranged for Brian Butler, Commercial Manager for Land and Environmental Services of Glasgow City Council to speak on his vision for the future and commercialisation of Glasgow’s parks.
