Whiteinch_BikeClub_LogoAs part of our monthly newsletter (you can subscribe here) we have a section called Friend Focus where we highlight the great work that is being undertaken by one (or more) of the many organisations that we work with.

Our latest Friend Focus features the Whiteinch Bike Club!

The Whiteinch Bike Club, which is based out of The Whiteinch Centre, is all about encouraging people to cycle – they meet every fortnight on a Thursday evening and the following Saturday for a cycle ride. The club started in Janurary this year and has been meeting since then.

The Whiteinch Bike Club was set up by a couple of local residents and keen cyclists who wanted to give something back to the community by helping local people get on their bikes. Everyone is welcome to come along from keen cyclists to those that are just starting out.

Whiteinch_BikeClubFlyer_Jan14On a Thursday evening the club meet in the Whiteinch Centre and there are various activities to get involved in including Dr Bike checks and advice on road safety. The following Saturday the club then host a cycle ride to various locations thoughout Glasgow and beyond.

Meetings take place every fortnight and the next meeting will be at this week on Thursday 29 and Saturday 31 May and a further two meetings before the summer holidays when the club will run based on demand.

The Bike Club will be supporting the ARC (Aftercare Recovery Community) sponsored cycle ride which takes place this Saturday. ARC is a peer based recovery support service based in the west side of Glasgow that meets in The Whiteinch Centre every Friday. Good luck to everyone going on the sponsored ride!
