WHMalcolm_SiteLocationRecently we were sent a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) by Barton Willmore acting on behalf of WH Malcolm about a proposed re-development of the existing waste transfer station located at the Malcolm Construction Head Office, based at 865 South Street.

The letter states that ‘This PAN is being submitted to commence the pre-application community engagement process for a forthcoming detailed Major planning application for “Alteration and diversification of existing waste recycling facility, to incorporate an Energy Recovery facility through use of existing building and with provision of an associated flue and infrastructure”.

Update: please read our more recent blog for information about the public consultation events that have been held

The site is already a registered waste management facility and is licensed to handle 495,000 tonnes of waste per year although according to SEPA figures in 2012 the site handled just over 190,000 tonnes of industrial waste. The waste management licence number is WML/W/0220162.

In terms of the community engagement process the developers are proposing to meet with DRCET, Whiteinch Community Council, Scotstoun Community Council and the local elected members. They are also planning to hold a public consultation event at The Whiteinch Centre. We will keep you informed of developments and when any public consulation events take place.
