y-pod_logo_blackLast week saw the launch of an exciting online directory developed by local young people for local young people – y-pod – the Youth Providers Online Directory. Four of the young people presented the site at a launch event to a range of local stakeholders.

y-pod is an online directory aimed at:

  • young people
  • families and carers and
  • youth providers and professionals

The young people involved are keen for people to sign up to use the site to promote their services and for local young people, families and carers to use the site too! The site is accessible across a variety of devices including PCs, laptops, tablets and smart phones. http://www.y-pod.info/

We caught up with Darren, a member of the DRC Youth Project and a member of the group of yong people that developed the online directory, to find out why people should use the site and what he had gained from being involved in the project.

Darren said, “Young people should use this site to find out what there is to do in the local area. The site should be really useful for people who have just moved to the area.”

“It has been great being involved with the project – I have got to make new friends, learn new skills which I can put on my CV and hopefully improve my chances of employment.”
