LOCAL residents are up-in-arms after a construction giant revealed plans for a waste incinerator on South Street. More than 500 objections have been lodged against the proposals.whmalcolm_residents-protest

WH Malcolm wants to have it at the site of its current recycling yard forming part of the firm’s Energy Recovery Facility.

If proposals are given the green light, then office waste, plastic, paper, wood and a range of other materials will be incinerated on site.

Residents believe the plans could pose a serious health risk to people living in the city and they are concerned about an increase in traffic on roads which are already busy.

Maisie McCrae, Chairwoman of Whiteinch Community Council, claims the stack will be an eyesore and a potential pollution problem for the city.
