GCC logoGlasgow Council has unveiled a new strategic plan which will allow it to continue to meet its goal of being a world class city that is focused on economic growth and tackling poverty and inequality, as it prepares for the unprecedented financial challenge of the next two years.

The strategy will be delivered through a transformation programme which is being put in place to allow the Glasgow Council Family to become leaner and more efficient.

The new strategy comes ahead of two years of continuing financial challenges. It is expected that the council will have to save an estimated 7% of its budget, equivalent to a total of around £103m over 2016/17 and 2017/18. These estimated figures are likely to be subject to change in light of the local government settlement due to be announced by the Scottish Government in December 2015 and in response to emerging pressures and investment priorities.
