KnightswoodCC-logoThe Clydebank Post ran a feature last week on the Knightswood Community Centre. Management of which is due to transfer from Glasgow Life to the Knightswood Community in October this year.

Knightswood Community SCIO has been set up to run the Centre and Kelly Kennedy has been appointed as the new Centre Manager and will oversee the 6 member staff team and the day-to-day running of the Centre.

According to the article the Centre has an estimated annual footfall of more than 70,000, the Alderman Road centre is one of the largest and busiest facilities of its type in Glasgow.

There is an interesting piece on the Glasgow Story website about the history of the Community Centre which first opened in 1950 but which was not fully complete until 1971. The Community Centre was also used as a filming location in Peter Mullan’s 2010 film Neds.
