New restored gatesGuided tours will be taking place in Victoria Park on Sunday 20 September as part of Doors Open Day. Members of the Friends of Victoria Park will lead the 90 minute walks leaving the Jubilee Gates on Victoria Park Drive North at 11am, 12noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. The final stop on each tour will be the old curling club where tea and biscuits will be available. All welcome.

Come and discover with local guides the past present and future of Victoria Park.  This walk should appeal to all, young and old, residents far and wide as there is so much to learn about the Park .  This walk  starts at the Jubilee Gates which commemorate the Queen’s  jubilee and opening of the Park in 1887.   That  provides an opportunity to learn more about those Victorians who gifted the land that forms the Park and the importance of the Park as one of Glasgow’s green spaces.  The walk will pause at the SS Daphne memorial remembering the 124 dead stressing the importance of shipbuilding to the communities served by the Park.
