NCN7_DykeRoadBridge_Diversion_Nov15-Mar16Due to construction works that are being undertaken by Scottish Water at the Dyke Road Bridge Underpass a section of the cycle route in the area will be closed from Monday 23 November 2015 until 4 March 2016.

Update Mon 24 Oct 16 – the cycle route is now re-open although the construction works are still ongoing. We have been advised by the contractors that they do not anticipate having to close the cycle way again. On the rare occasion that they are having to cross the cycle way with construction plant they will deploy Vehicle Marshalls at either end of our working area to ensure safe passage of cyclists and the construction plant will give way to cyclists.

A diversion will be in place via Sandholm Terrace, Drysdale Street, Spiershall Terrace through to Yoker Sports Centre.

At weekends when there are no construction activities it maybe possible to re open the cycleway although it may not be every weekend. If open at the weekend Scottish Water will try to open it Friday afternoon and close it again on Monday morning. Also there will be no work over the Christmas period and so the route will be fully open from 23rd Dec until the 4th January 2016.

Scottish Water is investing £10m in improvements to the waste water infrastructure in the Yoker area of Glasgow and part of Clydebank, which will help improve the water quality and natural environment of the River Clyde and tackle flooding issues. This includes a new sewer tunnel in Yoker, which is being installed using a special tunnel boring machine. These works are part of a £250 million 5 year improvement programme throughout Glasgow.
