20160223_YokerPS_CycleFriendly03Yoker Primary School has become the first school in the area to become a Cycle Friendly School. The award is one of a suite of Cycle Friendly Awards that has been developed by Cycling Scotland to help promote and support cycling locally and make our workplaces, schools, campuses and communities more cycle friendly.

In achieving the Cycle Friendly School award Yoker Primary has shown that the parents, teachers, pupils and volunteers involved with the school are committed to increasing cycling.

Alan Digweed, a Principal Teacher at the school said,

“Yoker Primary were delighted to receive this award  and hope it encourages and inspires our children and the local community to get involved with cycling”

The suite of Cycle Friendly Awards developed by Cycling Scotland are:

  • Cycle Friendly School Award
  • Cycle Friendly Secondary School Award
  • Cycle Friendly Campus Award
  • Cycle Friendly Employer Award
  • Cycle Friendly Communities

Currently Yoker Primary School are the only Award winner in any category across the whole of the G13 and G14 postcode area!!!

As part of our We Go Pedal project we are working with a range of partners to look at how our local communities can become Cycle Friendly Communities to help transform their area to encourage more trips by bike.
