BikeAbilityLogoOver the past few months we have been working on behalf of Glasgow City Council Road Safety team with pupils from several local primary schools to help them achieve their Bikeability Scotland Level 2 on road cycle training certificates.

Bikeability Scotland is a cycle training scheme designed to give children the skills and confidence they need both to cycle safely on the roads, and to encourage them to carry on cycling into adulthood.  Bikeability Scotland is managed by Cycling Scotland on behalf of the Bikeability Scotland Delivery Group.

There are 3 levels available:

  • Level 1 teaches basic bike skills in the playground and is aimed at Primary 5 pupils
  • Level 2 teaches basic bike skills in a controlled live road environment and is aimed at Primary 6 pupils
  • Level 3 is a more advanced course suitable for schools who are able to commit additional time for on road training and is aimed at Primary 7 pupils.

We have been working with Yoker Primary, Bankhead Primary, St Brendan’s Primary and Whiteinch Primary and a big congratulations to all the pupils who successfully achieved their certificates. Happy cycling!
