20140624_BikeHireLaunch02Glasgow Mass Automated Cycle Hire (MACH) scheme has proved to be so successful that the Council are looking at expanding the scheme across the City.

The scheme, which is operated by NextBike, currently has 450 bikes across 43 stations but the Council is considering expanding to 900 bikes and 100 stations.

At a recent meeting of the Sustainability and the Environment Policy Development Committee on 24 August a report was presented about the scheme.

The report noted that up to 24 July 2016 there had been 206,109 rentals and 14,080 registrations since the scheme’s launch on 24 June 2014, In addition approximately 100 requests for MACH stations around the city having been received by Land and Environmental Services.
