gobike_logoGoBike are holding their AGM and a public meeting on Wednesday 23 November, at 7:30pm in the Admiral Bar in Waterloo Street.

The main attraction at the public meeting will be Councillor Martin McElroy, Glasgow’s Cycling Commissioner, discussing the implementation of the Council’s Strategic Plan for Cycling and there will be the opportunity to ask questions – you can even start the discussion on the GoBike Facebook group  Not on Facebook?  You can e-mail your questions to the Convenor, convenor@gobike.org, particularly if you won’t be able to attend the event.

Councillor Martin McElroy will outline the City Council’s views on the following aspects of the Strategic Plan for Cycling:

  • A Safer Cycling City: Key Outcome 4 (p17)
  • Budget: Continue to spend above the Scottish national average per head of population, to develop commuter, leisure cycling.  (p18)
  • Increase number of children cycling to primary school from 3.5% to 7% by 2025 (p18)
  • 20mph zones (p20)
  • Glasgow Cycle Network/Infrastructure (p23-26)

The GoBike campaign exists to promote cycling by campaigning for good cycle infrastructure in the Strathclyde area of Scotland, and is active mainly within Glasgow, East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire and South Lanarkshire.
