Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the fantastic contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK – and this year it’s taking place from the Thu 1 to Wed 7 June 2017. It’s an opportunity for everyone to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers that make the world a better place.

Here at DRCET we involve volunteers in all the work that we do including workshop mechanism and assistants, community clean up assistants, Neighbourhood Improvement Volunteers (NIVs) and community cycling champions.

We also want to recruit volunteers across each of the community council areas we cover (Scotstoun, Whiteinch, Yoker, Thornwood, Knightswood, Jordanhill and Broomhill) to promote a range of environmentally friendly actions from recycling to picking up litter – you’ll lead the way and encourage others to join in.

We’re also looking for local people to join our Board – so if you are interested in improving the local area and would like to help develop DRCET then we’d like to hear from you.

You can contact Sarah on sarah@dumbartonroad.com for more information.

Over 21 million people volunteer in the UK at least once a year and this contributes an estimated £23.9bn to the UK economy. Behind these big numbers is a big contribution.

These 21 million people are a shining example of how we can all make a big difference to individuals and communities every day from improving the environment we live in, spending time with those who may otherwise be lonely and contributing to a range of other essential services and support. Such a big contribution is worth a big celebration!
