VP_gatesThere’s a whole host of activities planned for Victoria Park, many of them involving the Friends of Victoria Park (FoVP) group.

Further volunteer days are still to be announced where you can come along and help make the park enjoyable for all by helping with clean ups, bulb planting, etc!

Tue 12 JuneActive Seniors Day in the park – lots of activities and information available primarily for the older people of Glasgow but everyone is welcome to come along from 10.30am until 3.30pm.

Tue 12 to Sun 17 JuneZippos Circus is due to return to the park for several performances daily.

Sun 24 June 2pmFlower Power Demo – appeal to Glasgow City Council to withdraw its threat to grass over 28 of the main flower beds at the park at the end of this season. PLEASE COME ALONG TO HELP KEEP THE FLOWER DISPLAYS.

6 July – 15 JulyFriendsfest – based on the popular TV series takes place on the rugby pitches.

Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 September at 2pm each day, FoVP will lead informative walks around the park as part of Doors Open Day.

Sunday 11 November at 2pm – FoVP Annual Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph

Regular events in the park are listed below.
Basketball
There are four basket ball courts in Victoria Park which are free to use. These are maintained by Glasgow Life.
Bowling
Bowling at the park is free to use and no booking is required. It’s on April to September.
Putting
Putting in the park is free of charge – April to September and no booking is required.Tennis courts
The tennis courts adjacent to the main park gates are free to use. This facility is maintained by Glasgow Life.Fossil Grove
You can visit the Fossil Grove from 12noon to 4pm Saturdays and Sundays. The Fossil House is opened from Easter weekend through to the end of October – exact closing date to be confirmed.

Free summer classes
Park Lives is working with Glasgow Life to deliver lots of free activities in the park over the summer from karate to boogie bounce and Tai Chi – check out what’s on and sign up to take part.

Park Run for adults
The Victoria Park Run is part of the worldwide Park Run movement. The 5K run takes place at 9.30 on Saturday mornings with an average turnout of more than 200. Park runs are free to participants and volunteers turn out every week to help. To take part, you need to register on the website and download a barcode which you can then use to give you your run times.

Park run for children
There is also a children’s run for 4 to 14 year olds on Sunday mornings at 9.30.

Buggy fit
Mums with babies in prams can get fit and meet new friends through Buggy fit on Wednesday and Friday mornings and a bootcamp on Saturday mornings – for more information email buggyfit-gw@live.co.uk or check the website.
