rs-mr-logoThe Greener Scotstoun project recently launched the Medal Route walks from the Heart of Scotstoun Community Centre walking hub.

The Medal Routes are three walks of differing lengths – bronze is 15 minutes, silver is 30 minutes and the gold is 60 minutes – around the local area and have been created to make it easier for you to go for a walk!

There is also a Healthy Walks group based at Heart of Scotstoun who meet twice a week – at 2.30pm on a Monday and 11am on a Friday.

You can check out all of the Medal Routes across Scotland on the Ramblers website and if you know of a place that would make a great walking hub then why not get in touch with The Ramblers and they will help you to map and promote Medal Routes in your community.

You can also download the Medal Routes app for your smartphone which allows you to track progress and set targets for you.

20140407_HoS_Mound_05Over the past week or so the view from our office window has changed dramatically. The garden team at Heart of Scotstoun having been working hard to find a solution to the mound of earth that has been on site since the community centre was completed. And last week they found their solution. The soil has now been taken off site by Robertson’s to form part of the Cuningar Loop garden which is being developed as part of the Commonwealth Games.

This has been a win-win all round and means we now have a much nicer and brighter view from our office! And it is also a big step forward for Heart of Scotstoun for the development of their Back Green.
