In the past week De’ils On Wheels, our community bike workshop has reached a couple of ‘grand’ landmarks.

Firstly we received our 1000th donated bike, which is totally amazing!

And secondly we reached 1000 likes on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/deilsonwheels!

So we would just like to say a thousand thank yous to everyone that has donated a bike to us or that has liked our Facebook page! Your support is very much appreciated.

One of the donations we recently received was a 1950s Raleigh bicycle which has only had one careful owner! It is great condition and we hope to have it back on the road in the near future! You can check out some of our refurbished bikes for sale here! (And the photo we posted on Facebook has also had over 1000 views!!!)

Also we are really in need of donations of ladies bikes so if you have one you no longer have a use for then please get in touch!

At the end of March four brave members of the Dumbarton Road Corridor Environment Trust (DRCET) and De’ils On Wheels team Braved the Shave by getting their heads shaved to raise funds for DRCET and the Beatson Cancer Charity.

Neil, Liz, Paul and Sarah went under the clippers on Thursday 30 March 2017 to raise funds for these two great Glasgow based charities.

The response to the fundraiser has been totally overwhelming and we have finally collected all the sponsorship money and we raised a staggering £6937 – who would have thought a wee bit of hair could have raised so much!

So a massive thanks to Lu at Battlefield Barbers for amazing clipper control; to May, Marie and Amanda and all the team at Heart of Scotstoun for being fantastic hosts and for selling so many cakes; to everyone that baked something for us on the day; to everyone that came along to cheer us on; a huge thanks to Paul, Liz and Sarah for helping to turn my madcap idea into a reality and going above and beyond; and of course to everyone that sponsored us!

A huge, huge, huge thank you for everyone that supported us – it is very much appreciated!

We will be arranging a wee photo shoot to hand over a big cheque to the Beatson Cancer Charity soon so will be back in touch soon about that!

Neil, Liz, Paul and Sarah!

We tweeted about this too… @drcet @deilsonwheels #BraveTheShave #BigHeidShave @beatson_charity

Unfortunately the organisers have had to cancel this event due to the weather forecast for strong winds and even stronger gusts which are well above acceptable limits for the safe use of inflatables (bouncy castles etc) and borderline acceptable limits for the safe use of open fronted marquees. It is hoped the event will be re-organised for later in the year.

Heart of Scotstoun will be hosting a Summer Fayre on Saturday 8 July from 11am to 2pm.

There will be a range of activities including children’s games, a BBQ and home baking and a table top and car boot sale! If you would like to book a table or a car boot space please contact the Centre!

The Summer Fayre is suitable for all ages so why not pop down and join in the fun!
