Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the fantastic contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK – and this year it’s taking place from the Thu 1 to Wed 7 June 2017. It’s an opportunity for everyone to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers that make the world a better place.

Here at DRCET we involve volunteers in all the work that we do including workshop mechanism and assistants, community clean up assistants, Neighbourhood Improvement Volunteers (NIVs) and community cycling champions.

We also want to recruit volunteers across each of the community council areas we cover (Scotstoun, Whiteinch, Yoker, Thornwood, Knightswood, Jordanhill and Broomhill) to promote a range of environmentally friendly actions from recycling to picking up litter – you’ll lead the way and encourage others to join in.

We’re also looking for local people to join our Board – so if you are interested in improving the local area and would like to help develop DRCET then we’d like to hear from you.

You can contact Sarah on sarah@dumbartonroad.com for more information.

Well that was amazing! What a way to spend a quiet Thursday morning in the office!! Not sure where to start really – the response to this mad-cap fundraiser has been amazing and so many people have contributed to making it happen.

So a massive thanks to Lu at Battlefield Barbers for amazing clipper control; to May, Marie and Amanda and all the team at Heart of Scotstoun for being fantastic hosts and for selling so many cakes; to everyone that baked something for us on the day; to everyone that came along to cheer us on; a huge thanks to Paul, Liz and Sarah for helping to turn my madcap idea into a reality and going above and beyond; and of course to everyone that has sponsored uswe have smashed our target so thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
