ScotstounCC_logoScotstoun Community Council (SCC)  current committee stands down in October 2017 and that creates 13 places available for election of a new community council.

The election is managed by Glasgow City Council and is open to residents within the area who are 16 years of age or older.  Nomination forms require 2 residents to be recorded as proposer and seconder and the form to be returned to City Chambers (by FREEPOST) by 12 noon on Friday 15 September 2017. The candidate, proposer and seconders’ names must appear on the Electoral Register.

The general purpose of a community council is to find out the views of the residents living in the area, to pass these on to the local and national authorities or public agencies and to take action in the interests of the community.

Download the nomination form Scotstoun CC Nomination Form 2017 and pop it in an envelope (FREEPOST address is given on the accompanying instructions). Forms can also be handed in to 40 John Street.

Anyone over 16 years of age who resides within the Community Council boundary area can stand for election. All that is required is that the candidate, proposer and seconders’ names appear on the Electoral Register.

The Community Council currently have 4 vacancies and the deadline for nominations is 12 noon on Friday 23 September 2016.
If the Community Council receive more than 4 valid nominations then a secret ballot will be held on a date to be confirmed. Should 4 or less valid nominations be submitted then the candidates will be elected unopposed.

ScotstounCC_logoScotstoun Community Council is looking for new people from the local area to join the Council. They currently have 6 people on the community council are and are keen to uregently recruit more members.

June Mitchell, one of the existing community Councillors said:
“We are in the difficult position of being at risk of losing our community council as we do not have enough people involved. I would urge any residents, colleagues and associates who live in the Scotstoun Community Council area to submit nominations before the deadline. I really am concerned about the dangers of losing our community council.”

ScotstounCC_MapBoundaryThe nomination forms have to be returned to Glasgow City Council by 24th October 2014 so that we can fill the community council vacancies by the AGM meeting on 30th October.
