Green Gym 6The Green Gym is about healthy people and healthy places where volunteers meet up once a week to work together on improving local green spaces around West Glasgow.

The dates and locations for Sep are:

Sessions run from 11.00am to 2.00pm. Tea and coffee are provided and we usually stop for this about 12.30pm. If you need any more information, are unable to attend a session or have any problems locating the meeting point, please contact Margaret at Drumchapel Life on 0141 944 6004 or Peter Kane on 07856 607109

20180825_OverTheWall-headerThis year’s Over the Wall summer multi-arts festival will take place in the grounds of Gartnavel Royal Hospital, Glasgow on Saturday 25 August 2018 from 12pm to 4pm.

There will be a wide range of activities including street theatre, live animals, art, information, fun and games. Hot drinks and freshly baked goodies will also be available. We will be along with our pedal powered smoothies so why not pop along and enjoy a great, family day out!

The Festival is part of the annual art in the gart programme; this programme is a collaboration between NHSGGC northwest mental health services and Third Sector organisations and artists to enable access seven days a week and out of hours to participation in meaningful activity to support mental health recovery and wellbeing.

ApplefieldWe will be hosting weekly volunteer gardening sessions every Thursday at Gartnavel Applefield garden every Thursday until 31 May. The sessions will start at 10.00am and finish at 12.30pm.

Gartnavel Applefield garden contributes to improving the environment around the Gartnavel site for the enjoyment of patients, staff and local people.

Volunteers will be able to help with a wide range of tasks including building and installing raised beds, preparation and filling of raised beds, installing a polytunnel, landscaping the gardens and general weeding.

If you want to come along to any of the sessions please get in touch or you can just turn up on the day. As the work is outdoors, please dress for the weather.

ArtInTheGartGartnavel Growing Spaces is offering you the chance to adopt one of the garden beds at the Gartnavel Royal Hospital site (Crow Road entrance) to grow your own produce during 2017.

Applications are welcome from:

  • mental health (acute or community) service users or patients/supported by staff
  • local organisations supporting mental health recovery, working with disadvantaged people or promoting neighbourhood relationships
  • NHS staff/NHS volunteers, (groups or individuals) working on the Gartnavel site
  • NHS employees living close to Gartnavel campus
