Glasgow City Council is holding an online consultation and walk-in session to assess how they can improve walking and cycling routes to Knightswood Park, host venue for the BMX competitions of the 2018 European Championships.

The public walk-in session will take place from 3-9pm on Tuesday 15 August at Knightswood Community Centre, 201 Alderman Road G13 3DD, where you can also meet the project team.

Alternatively there will be an online consultation available between 7 August and 4 September 2017 where you can find more details of the project and to add your comments.

The Council is proposing a number of changes to improve the environment for cyclists and pedestrians. New designs could see the implementation of:

  • New footways
  • Pedestrian and cycle zebra crossings
  • Reallocation of road space
  • Segregated cycle lanes

This is to increase road safety, improve public space, increase the number of cyclists, and reduce sustainable transport journey times.

Have your say in the creation of your place! Pop along to the walk-in session or submit your comments online. Poster available here knightswood_travel_consultation_poster

Unfortunately the organisers have had to cancel this event due to the weather forecast for strong winds and even stronger gusts which are well above acceptable limits for the safe use of inflatables (bouncy castles etc) and borderline acceptable limits for the safe use of open fronted marquees. It is hoped the event will be re-organised for later in the year.
