Green Gym 6The West Glasgow Green Gym will be holding sessions during May.

The Green Gym is about healthy people and healthy places where volunteers meet up once a week to work together on improving local green spaces around West Glasgow.

The dates and locations for May are:

  • Wed 10 May – St Ninian’s Primary School – tidying up playground and front of school. Meet at entrance to St Ninian’s, 2150 Great Western Road, G13 2AB
  • Wed 17 May – holiday week
  • Wed 24 May – cycle path NCN754 at Blairdardie next to canal – litter pick and general tidy up on both sides of canal. Meet where Blairdardie Road meets with Gorget Ave and Rotherwood Ave, G13 2AD
  • Wed 31 May – cycle path NCN756 at Kelvindale Road – litter pick and general tidy up. Meet where Kelvin Walkway meets with Kelvindale Road, G20 8JU

Sessions run from 11.00am to 2.00pm. Tea and coffee are provided and we usually stop for this about 12.30pm. If you need any more information, are unable to attend a session or have any problems locating the meeting point, please contact Margaret at Drumchapel Life on 0141 944 6004

  • Wed 12 Apr – Rothesay Dock – tidying along the cycle path and litterpicking. Meet at cycle path on Dock Street, G81 1JW
  • Wed 19 Apr – Nature Trail Woodland Walk, Jordanhill – clearing undergrowth and litterpicking along the path. Meet at entrance to Nature Walk, by the milepost on Westland Dr, just by Westbrae Bridge, G14 9JQ
  • Wed 26 Apr – Drummore Primary School – Tidying up playground and garden areas. Meet at school entrance, 129 Drummore Road, G15 7NH

20141105_LitterScotstoun Community Council are organising a litter pick from 10am on Saturday 18 February 2017.

The community clean up will take place from Balmoral Street to Ardsloy Place along Early Street in Scotstoun. All equipment will be provided and everyone is welcome to join in.

The organisers are part of Community Safety Glasgow’s Neighbourhood Improvement Volunteers (NIV) programme.

If you would like to join in then please meet at 10am at Heart of Scotstoun Comunity Centre, 64 Balmoral Street, G14 0BL

The Green Gym, which is run by Drumchapel LIFE, is about healthy people and healthy places where volunteers meet up once a week – on Wednesday’s between 11am-2pm – to work together on improving local green spaces around West Glasgow.

The dates and locations for March are:

  • Wed 2 Mar – Cycle path – Yoker Ferry to Yoker Campus – Joint workday with SUSTRANS – cutting back vegetation and litterpicking along the path. Meet on cycle path access point at bottom of Greenlaw Rd/Lasswade St G14 0PG
  • Wed 9 Mar – Garscadden Woods, Drumchapel – tidying along the path, checking culverts and litterpicking. Meet at Phoenix Centre, Monymusk Place, G15 8JH
  • Wed 16 Mar – Yoker Campus to Lidl – litterpicking and clearing undergrowth. Meet at Yoker Campus, Kelso Place, Glasgow G14 0LL
  • Wed 23 & 30 Mar – Nature Trail Woodland Walk, Jordanhill – litterpicking along the path and starting to clear undergrowth. Meet at entrance to Nature Walk, by the milepost on Westland Dr, just by Westbrae Bridge, G14 9JQ

FoVP_CleanUp_Group3_Inst_20140607A massive THANK YOU to everyone that turned out to help clean up Victoria Park. Nearly 40 people participated in the clean up and the weather stayed dry as over 20 bags of litter and rubbish were cleared from all areas of the park including the Fossil Grove, around the pond, the rose garden and the tennis courts and bowls area. There were also two bags of bottles and cans which have gone to be recycled!

The event, which took place as part of Volunteers Week, was organised by DRCET in partnership with Friends of Victoria Park and with support from Community Safety Glasgow so a big thanks to them too! And thanks to the additional volunteers from the Park Run group that helped out as well (after a 5K run!!) It is hoped there will be some more clean ups over the coming months so keep your eyes peeled for more information!
