One Big Picnic One Big Community is a free event for the people by the people from 12-4pm on Sunday 3 September in George Square.

The aim of the event is to bring people together by creating a space for sharing food and a wee blether, sitting next to each other, showing understanding to differences regardless of background, cultural, religious, sexual orientation, social or educational status, homelessness or wealth. Highlighting Glasgow is indeed a city of caring people – people make Glasgow!

The event brings together community projects which prepare and serve free meals/provide food parcels on a regular basis  to those in need, such as the elderly, homeless and destitute. We believe that everyone has the right to good accessible food and should be treated fairly and with dignity. Therefore we will be serving wonderful dishes from around the world to all.

Last week the pupils from St Paul’s Primary in Whiteinch popped back along to the garden to harvest their leeks.

Despite the cold they had a great time up at the garden and harvested quite a few leeks – which they took back to their school and cooked!
