Cycling Scotland has developed a free 3.5 hour Cycle Awareness course catering for learner drivers.

Designed to help learner drivers be safer on our roads, the training is the perfect opportunity to step into the shoes of more vulnerable road users – including those on bikes, on foot and those with disabilities – and provide participants with a greater understanding of their needs.

GWR_LogoGlasgow Wood Recycling are currently recruiting for their next Making Wood Work programme starting on the 4th August 2015.  It is a BIG lottery funded employability programme aiming to work with those furthest away from the labour market, supporting them to overcome barriers and make progress towards employment.

Making Wood Work is a ten week programme consisting of a wide range of health and safety, wood working, recycling and customer care activities.  The programme is accredited by the National Community Wood Recycling Project and has been designed to help long term unemployed people gain the skills, confidence and experience they need to make progress towards sustainable outcomes in volunteering, training, education and employment.

voicelogoOver the past 10 months we have been getting support from the Scottish Community Development Centre through their Supporting Communities programme.

We have been working on various different aspects and this week we undertook training on the VOiCE – Visioning Outcomes in Community Engagement.

VOiCE is planning and recording software that assists individuals, organisations and partnerships to design and deliver effective community engagement and can be used to support a range of participation from overall area regeneration to specific concerns of users of particular services.

GWR_LogoWe are delighted to tell you some great news from our good friends Glasgow Wood Recycling. Thanks to an award of £426,509 from the BIG Lottery Fund, Glasgow Wood Recycling is about to launch “Making Wood Work” its first training and employment project providing opportunities for 144 people, the first of its kind in Scotland.

Delivering training designed and accredited by the National Community Wood Recycling network this award will help unemployed people learn woodworking skills, and learn about wood recycling and health and safety The new project will mean three new posts being created immediately and a wide range of partnerships being developed with local employers to improve the employment prospects of trainees.
