Sustrans Scotland will be holding a wildflower meadow creation volunteer workday from 10:30am to 3:30pm on Monday 16 April just past the entrance to the National Cycle Network at the end of Greenlaw Road, Yoker G14 0PG.

The day will look at habitat management to encourage wildflowers. As part of the workday we will talk about why to create and manage wildflower meadows and how to go about it and what tools to use, as well as about tool care and health and safety. We will then spend the day removing invading scrub, targeted wildflower seed sowing and potentially wildflower plug planting.

Please bring:

  • Sturdy shoes, preferably boots
  • Clothes appropriate for the weather
  • (Some!) muscles and (lots of) enthusiasm
  • Packed lunch

Sustrans will provide tools; protective equipment, e.g. gloves; tea, coffee and biscuits.

Please remember that we encourage sustainable travel – if possible, please consider cycling or walking to us, or using public transport. The nearest train station is Yoker. Otherwise, please consider car sharing.

For more information please contact Laura White, Sustrans Volunteer Coordinator (Routes) on 07786 525946.
